Nobody remembers the person who plays it safe. The best possible outcome from playing it safe is being mid. And no one talks about mid. No one flies across the world to see mid. You don't have an impact with mid.
So what actually makes you, you? That's the question most people never ask. They just copy the formula they see working for other people, then wonder why they feel invisible.
Figure out what your weird thing is. The thing that feels out of place in your world — that's your edge. If you're a producer who grew up on drum and bass but you're making house music, that's your edge. If you're a designer obsessed with horror in a world of clean aesthetic, that's not a problem — that's your thing.
People can feel when something comes from an authentic place. And they can absolutely feel when it doesn't.
So don't round yourself off to fit in. The version of you that's fully you is impossible to copy. Lean all the way into that.
Don't be mid. Be iconic. Never stop.
