Greatness doesn't announce itself while it's happening.
Have you ever felt like you're working every single day, but nothing's happening? You're not getting any results. It's just silence.
Most people see that as failure. In my experience it's usually the opposite. Greatness doesn't announce itself while it's happening. It always feels quiet and boring. It feels stuck.
In 2019 I was in a proper creative rut. I was going to the studio every day, all day, all night, finishing nothing. No ideas that felt exciting. No tracks that felt special. I just kept showing up. Honestly, I was questioning why am I even doing this, why am I even trying. That's the phase where most people quit, because it feels pointless.
Then one night at 4am, with no pressure and no expectations, I was just playing around and I made the beat for Ferrari. Straight away I knew — this is magic. That moment didn't come out of nowhere. It came because I'd been showing up for months with no applause.
The nothing is happening phase is usually when you're building your taste, building your standards, learning how to keep going when there's no reward. Everyone you admire has been through that chapter. You just don't hear about that part of the story, because it's boring. But it's required.
So if what you're doing right now feels slow, like you're going nowhere, don't panic. Don't even rush to escape it. This might be the phase that earns you what's coming next.
Greatness usually shows up right after the stage where it feels like nothing's happening.
