I meet so many people who want to be a DJ and producer, but they don't want to make content. If that sounds like you, here's the fucking reality. It's not going to work.
There are 200,000-plus songs put on Spotify every single day. Doesn't matter how good your song is — people aren't going to hear it if they're not discovering content that leads them to it.
I get it. We didn't get into this to be content creators. We got into this because we love music, we love DJing. But there's no way around this. You can't avoid it. It's like paying your taxes. It's like drinking water. You have to do these things, otherwise nothing else is going to work.
And yeah, you could say, but there are some DJs who don't make content. You're right. There are. The way around it is paying people loads of money to run clips pages, paying people loads of money to do PR campaigns, so they all talk about you and you don't have to talk about yourself.
But you need money to do that shit. Unless you're a trust fund baby, unless you're a rich kid — and I'm assuming you're not — you better go make the content.
