I was a really shit DJ. On my first ever gig I actually ran out of music, panicked, and ended up repeating the same tracks. It was a total car crash.
And guess what? Every DJ you look up to started in exactly the same place. No one is born good at this. They earn it by embarrassing themselves, playing bad sets, figuring out who they are and what not to do. The ones who make it, the ones who keep going, find their sound and work out what makes them different.
So if you've got a DJ controller today and you want it badly enough, you can literally be the biggest DJ in the world. Stop watching videos. Don't overthink it. Plug it in, press play, start earning your 10,000 hours.
