You haven't heard my best record yet. But if I give up, you'll never hear it.
Why is it worth sticking it out? Why bother, when you've been trying for years and you're not sure it's for you?
Because you could wake up tomorrow and make the song that gets played at someone's funeral. You could make the soundtrack to somebody's life. You could give someone an experience they'll remember forever with their best friends.
Any one of us can do this. When Avicii sat down and made Levels, he didn't know he was making one of the greatest dance records of all time. He just rocked up to the studio and was probably just messing about.
That's what keeps me going when it gets hard. I slept on the floor of the studio because they wouldn't let me rent an apartment. And what got me through is the potential. The potential that's in all of us. Some people don't believe it's in them — but I believe it's in them. And I believe there's still so much in me that people haven't seen yet.
When that potential is in play, you go through whatever the fuck you've got to get through to get to the other side. Because you haven't heard my best record yet. But if I give up, you'll never hear it. And honestly, that makes me kind of sad just thinking about it.
